25 Before the End of 2025 | UPDATE

This was a complete shot in the dark and it’s no surprise to anyone that I ultimately failed. I made good headway and I think I will be following my idea of not setting super specific goals for 2026 and keep at mood reading what I would like. But on with the update.

Books I Managed to Read

  • The Midnight Feast – ⭐⭐
  • Wild Love – ⭐⭐⭐
  • Done and Dusted – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • A Touch of Ruin – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • The Ministry of Time – ⭐⭐⭐

Books I Didn’t Manage

*
  • The Sun and the Void
  • Royal Assassin – I think I am going to have to read the entire series without stopping because I genuinely cannot remember what happened in the first one.
  • The Bone Season – Definitely a priority for 2026 in fact I would love to reread all of Samantha Shannon’s works!
  • Voidwalker
  • Starling House
  • We Solve Murders
  • Ithaca – This one was actually a DNF, I don’t know if I will ever pick it up again but it was just SO dry and not at all what I expected.
  • Wild Reverence
  • The Enchanted Greenhouse
  • Blood Over Bright Haven
  • Six Scorched Roses
  • Slaying the Vampire Conquerer
  • The Songbird & the Heart of Stone – All of these will need a bigger reread that I just didn’t have time for by the time the year came to end but I definitely want to finish the books I have on my shelf.

I definitely didn’t do as badly as I thought I would and I really did hit some of the books that have been sat on my shelf for a little while and made me prioritise them. There were some winners and actually some surprising losers but I think I might go back to doing monthly TBRs again, nothing dramatic or too rigid but it might keep me on track a little better during the year.

I would be really interested to hear whether or not monthly TBRs work for you or if you find having a challenge to keep you motivated. We are planning on having a quieter year next year so I’m hoping I will have a little more time and energy to dedicate to my reading. Who knows, it will be great to see what I can achieve.
