January TBR | 2026

I’m going back to monthly TBRs. I know, its mental as a mood reader having any kind of plan seems like the wrong thing to do, but I’m hoping having a little bit of direction it will keep me on track for the year. I’m starting off with a smaller number and hoping for a win. So on with my January 2026 TBR.

Series I’m starting or carrying on

  • Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross
    • I have just finished the Divine Rivals duology and I can’t wait to read the prequel. This world is one that I really enjoy and I would to see how it all worked out.
  • The Strength of The Few by James Islington
    • Genuinely so excited to jump back into this world and see where the world will end up taking us, especially after the heartbreak of the last one.
  • Brimstone by Callie Hart
    • I have had this one sat on my shelf since my preorder came in. I do think I will have to reread Quicksilver first but I’m hopeful it will be as good as its predecessor.

Rereads

  • Quicksilver by Callie Hart
    • I’m rereading this one in readiness for Brimstone. I’m sure I could do without the reread but I actually cannot remember anything that happens. I really enjoyed it the first time around so I’m sure it won’t be a hardship.
  • The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
    • I adore this book and series, it was one of my favourites and I never managed to finish it. I want to end 2026 finally up to date.
  • A Language of Dragons by S.F. Williamson
    • The sequel is a preorder this month so I might give this one another go so I have the story fresh in my mind going into it. I do remember this one having a lot of treaty talks and alliances so I just want to make sure I know what is going on.

Standalones

  • The Bookshop Below by Georgia Summers
    • I love cozy fantasy and this one looks to be right up my street. I was really lucky to get a special edition in my Illumicrate box. I’m hoping this one will have everything I want in a new fantasy.

Pre-Orders

  • The Elsewhere Express by Samantha Sotto Yambao
    • I loved the writing style of Water Moon and I really wanted to try something else by this author. I’m really hoping that this will be a win to start the year off with.
  • A War of Wyverns
    • A Language of Dragons was a four star read for me and I really can’t wait to see where the story is going to end up going. There’s a lot of potential for both the characters and the plot.
  • Half His Age
    • Jenette McCurdy’s memoir was one of the best I have ever read and I was so pleased to see that she has now decided dabble in fiction.

I think this is a really good starting point and there will obviously be a little more flexibility, I haven’t included audiobooks. Hopefully, this will be the start of a productive and motivated year.
