September Wrap Up & October TBR | 2023

I feel like my reading is going from strength to strength at the minute. I’m reading a lot and falling back into love with my Kindle and even physical books. It feels like it’s back being a priority in my life and I’m loving the different characters and plots I’m exploring on the way! September was definitely a good month for me, especially when feeling out a new series or direction!

Stats for my September Wrap Up

  • Books finished – 12
  • DNF – 2
  • New reads – 9
  • Rereads – 3
  • Pages read – 4103

Divine Rivals

I loved this book, Divine Rivals has the perfect mixture of mundane and fantasy. The characters lead these normal lives that are surrounded with magic and drama. It was phenomenally written and I cannot wait to read the next one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Four Money

Well it was another Stuff Your Kindle day this month and I picked up a few romance books to read. I thought I was going to love this one, but the ending frustrated me and I just didn’t feel the urge to pick the other one up!

⭐⭐

  • The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Yellowface by R.F Kuang – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • The Silent Bride by Shalini Boland – ⭐⭐
  • Four Money by Jayne Rylon – ⭐⭐

  • Pretty Hostage by Julia Sykes – ⭐⭐⭐

Ruthless Savior

I am loving this series, and I am getting through them fairly quickly. Although the formula is fairly stereotypical, they are attention grabbing and with some really great characters. I’m enjoying the arcs and the way that each of the characters are coming together.

One Dark Throne

This series has been sat on my shelves for a really long time and after I read the first one again this month I wanted to dive right back into the second one. It’s taking a lot longer than I expected but I’m enjoying the experience.

Good Girl, Bad Blood

Second one in one of my favourite book series. This one has a completely different vibe, with it happening in real time rather than a past crime but I’m still really enjoying the investigation aspects of the story.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter is a comfort read for me and I usually put the audiobook on in the middle of the night when I’m struggling to sleep and need to calm my brain down. It will probably take me a while to get through but it’s like a warm cup of tea.

October TBR

I haven’t made a huge dent in the books that I picked for last month to be honest but I have managed to replace a few. I am definitely leaning into my mood reading and it seems to be working for me, the books I’m picking up I’m enjoying and there have been a fair few wins for me in the past couple of months.

  1. It sounds great that you’re able to make reading a priority and it’s going so well for you! It’s just nice when reading is easy 😊
I’ll be reading A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross very soon so it was great motivation to see some praise for another book of hers. I’ll have to look into that one too.
From your TBR, I’m excited to see The Bone Ships there. I love that trilogy a lot but it’s a bit unusual. I hope you like it if you get to it. Barker’s newest book Gods of the Wyrdwood was actually my favorite read in September 😄

  2. How lovely to read about your renewed reading life, a lot of nice tempting ones for this month, too. I have been catching up on old NetGalley reads and also some from my Kindle TBR but I have to remember I need to charge the Kindle now and then!
