Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Quotes from Books | Top Ten Tuesday
I actually found choosing this week’s topic harder than I thought I would but I loved the idea of this one. I read books all the time and some of the wording really takes my breath away, plus I love scrolling through the quotes on Goodreads!
So here are some of my favourite book quotes.
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
― Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”
― Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
“To die will be an awfully big adventure.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
“You don’t love someone because they’re perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they’re not.”
― Jodi Picoult, My Sister’s Keeper
“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
― Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who!
“You can’t live your life for other people. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if it hurts some people you love.”
― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

I love that Neil Gaiman quote. It’s so true, too. Children (and adults, too) need examples of how to beat foes that seem unbeatable. Fairy tales are a great place to find that.
My TTT.
I think now I might read Coraline because of that line. I remember that Harry Potter line more from the movie version than the book but it’s a great line and one everyone should remember.
That Mockingbird line – that one’s great too. They’re all great.
Have a lovely day.
Thank you so much for your comment! They are definitely some of my favourites! <3
Great list! I love the quote from Horton Hears a Who. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s so much fun to read shared quotes — especially when I haven’t read the books yet. Thanks for sharing these.
Thank you so much for stopping by! <3
You’re welcome.
These are great! I especially like the Pooh one. That’s very true when it comes to blogging and making connections online.
“We accept the love we think we deserve.” is one of my favorite quote ever! I remember reading it for the first time it was like getting slapped hard and then hugged. It’s so true and so eyes-opening.
Great list!
Yess, you have just summed up exactly what that quote feels like! <3
