Books I Bought/Borrowed Because of the Cover | Top Ten Tuesday
I always start these as a series and never get very far but I think I’m going to have another go because when I start doing them I really love them. Plus I love reading everyone else’s and always regret that I hadn’t taken part.
This week we’re discussing books we bought or borrowed because of… and I chose to do the covers. I think I am a big cover buyer and borrower especially in the library.

- Girls of Paper and Fire | I haven’t managed to read this one yet but isn’t that cover something beautiful! I couldn’t resist.
- 10 Minutes, 38 Seconds in this Strange World | I am so glad I managed to borrow this one before my library shut down. I saw the cover and learnt more and cannot wait to read it this month!
- The Court of Miracles | There is something about navy blue and gold that makes me more than happy! I managed to get an e-ARC from Netgalley so this one will be read sooner rather than later.
- Ace of Shades | Sometimes simplicity is better! I really loved this book and this entire series, I cannot wait to read the third one!
- The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender | Although this one is beautiful but I didn’t actually love this one. I struggled to connect with the characters and the storyline.

- Who Could That Be at This Hour | Such an interesting cover but I think by the time I read this one I had outgrown Lemony Snicket. It just wasn’t what I was expecting and I didn’t really enjoy it.
- Burial Rites | Technically not a cover but the sides of my books are sprayed black and I bought it because of
- that. I LOVED this book, I found it so interesting and it was a part of history that I had never thought about.
- The Kingdom | This was a 50/50, I think if the cover hadn’t been so great I wouldn’t have read the bit about Disney and I would never have read it! I really loved this book, one of my favourites.
- Strange the Dreamer | I will never get over how beautiful this book is and the sequel kinda pushes the boundaries as well. I really enjoyed my reading of this and have reread it since!
- Room | I didn’t buy this one because it was a beautiful cover but more because it was intriguing. I loved the fact that it looked like a child had drawn it and then you learn that it follows the story of a child and his mother. It was a great book and read.

I’m really excited to read some of yours! Let me know if you have read any of the above and which was your favourite.

A Court of Miracles, I definitely preordered largely because of the cover! If the cover wasn’t so pretty, I probably would have just got the e-book or audiobook. I love the covers for the Shadow Game series, but because I’ve read the first two in digital format, I’ll be reading the last one the same way!

It is a beauty! I love anything with a metallic highlight! Covers are my downfall and my collection is huge as it is.
Ha ha mine too, I definitely have more than a few books that I got mostly because I liked the covers! Luckily the books have largely ended up being good too 🙂
Covers get me every time.
Me too! It’s a problem! 🙂
That Ace of Shades cover is gorgeous.
My TTT .
The book is a beauty as well, I loved the writing style, the entire series is one on my favourites.
Girls of paper and fire is a great book. I loved the Asian influence in it!
I haven’t managed to read it yet, but I definitely want to! Glad you enjoyed it!
The covers for ‘Strange The Dreamer’ and ‘Muse of Nightmares’ matches how beautiful the writing is inside for sure! There are some beautiful covers on here, and a lot of them I have my eye on but haven’t had the chance to pick up yet!
I LOVE Strange the Dreamer, they are some of my favourite books! I have a few on my “to buy” list that are purely there because of the cover!
Strange the Dreamer has the best cover!
It is a beauty!
You’re definitely not alone! A lot of us are suckers for a great cover. I have to have an intriguing premise as well, otherwise no dice, I won’t buy or borrow the book. I’m glad these have worked out for you.
Happy TTT!

I would love to say I wasn’t a sucker for the cover but I actually think it affects whether I love a book as much!
Every time I see the Strange the Dreamer cover I want to read it. I guess I should get on that like you did!
I liked Ace of Shades – I need to continue that series. 🙂
Check out my TTT and my review of Titan’s Day by Dan Stout
I really liked Girls of Paper and Fire – and agreed, the cover is gorgeous! I didn’t like the second book as much (kind of had that middle-book syndrome) but I’m still looking forward to reading the last book when it comes out!
Ah what a stunning selection of book covers! I love the Girls of Paper and Fire cover, unfortunately I didn’t love the book as much 🙁 I can’t wait to read Strange the Dreamer! 🙂
Strange the Dreamer is one of my absolute favourites! I have heard mixed reviews about it. I’m holding out hope that I’ll love it!
