The only outcome that’s certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?
It’s the eve of war…. Choose your side.

Heir: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, firstborn son Magnus begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword…. In the three kingdoms of Mytica, magic has long been forgotten. And while hard-won peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest now simmers below the surface.
Falling Kingdoms was ranted and raved about and I have no idea why. You read the synopsis above and you think it’s going to be the best thing in life. Oh but it isn’t. For some reason the writing is completely disjointed with the story. I just didn’t feel any connection with the characters or the world.
Basically the book went like this:
Princess: Oh no! I caused a massive problem for my father and kingdom. Just wait a minute while I play the victim.
Rebel: Something unspeakable has happened to my family. I’m going out for revenge… maybe not.
Sorceress: I’m really quiet, but super mysterious. Oh and blindly loyal and unquestioning.
Heir: My life sucks because I’m just a crappy person with no justification for it.
I thought it fell flat in the end. I just couldn’t get through all the dreariness and lack of plot progression. All of the different perspectives just broke the flow of the story. It has potential. Some of the characters might be amazing if they were given a little bit of space to grow.
I had real difficulty reading Falling Kingdoms, in fact it took me a whole week, which considering the length is unbelievable. There was no desperate need to pick it up. I didn’t want to spend time listening to the characters whining about their lives. I also didn’t want to spend time on the predictable story lines. Falling Kingdoms was anything but amazing. There needed to be something more. Something to keep the story moving at a nice pace instead of the dreariness we got instead.
There was nothing different about the three countries, they all merged. The world building was SHOCKING. There was none. I wanted to love this book. So much… but please don’t compare it to Game of Thrones because it is nothing but a bad YA knockoff.
I don’t know whether I will carry on with the series, I have heard it gets better. If you’ve read the series let me know if it gets any better.
