Crooked Kingdom is the second in one of the best duologies I have ever read. I adore this book and the characters lives, it’s the greatest. Now is usually the part where I spring into bullet points all about how I thought things went down. BUT I’m not going to. I don’t want to accidently ruin something for someone. So we’re skipping, but hold on for a hella lot of fangirling.

On with the fangirling

This book was exciting, it kept you on your toes and at the edge of your seat for the entirety. That’s rare for me, I’ve usually sussed out the twist by the time it happens, and I just couldn’t figure out Kaz’s plan. It’s probably my favourite thing about Crooked Kingdom, and it was so well done. I really have to applaud Leigh Bardugo, she did a fantastic job of keeping the reader completely in the dark with what was going on.

Favourite character, oh my this is a really hard one, I adore them all so much. I would have to say either Kaz (obviously) or Nina surprisingly. Kaz is the all knowing and also the ruthless, and I loved that about him. He never got emotional and if he did there was always an ulterior motive behind it. Somehow it always fitted in with the plan. He makes my heart flutter. Nina was a surprise to me, I never expected to like her, I wasn’t overly keen in Six of Crows, but you know, characters grow on you. She wore her suffering on her sleeve, she was afraid and she knew it, there was no false pretence, and I adored that about her. She was a great character in the end.

Least favourite character has to be Kuwei, I mean he’s a huge character in terms of the plot. BUT for the majority of the book, he spends his time sniffing in a corner desperately trying to scribble notes down. I struggled to feel sad about his predicament. I mean, come on, someone put him outta his misery!

Crooked Kingdom is one of those books where I don’t have an I wish this would have happened. BECAUSE AHHH it was perfect I tell you. Perfect and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise because they are LYING.
