Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.
Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.
Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.
Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.
There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.
But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.
Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

I cannot believe how much I loved Royally Screwed. It has to be one of the best romances I’ve read so far. It’s so predictable but utterly heartbreaking and funny all at the same time. Nicholas and Oliva’s relationship brings me so much joy. I’m smiling now writing this review. There is something wonderful reading about this awful prince falling in love with a typical American. It’s the everyday fairytale that everyone wants to believe in. I think it is the one romance that has fully immersed me in the story. I felt as though I was living it along with the characters. Just one of the best books I have read this month.

Characters in Royally Screwed

Royally Screwed sets the scene for the entire series. We end up meeting a lot of the characters that become important in the next books. I adored how much detail we got through this story. Watching as Olivia and Nicholas sort through their feelings for each other. There were moments of rawness, as a result, you end up falling in love with the characters all the more. The story of the prince and the commoner is definitely a trope. However, I think this one does it SO well. There are so many characters that add more to the story. They each add richness and help it become a well rounded and beautiful story.

Nicholas and Olivia are definitely my favourite characters. I loved how much they connected all the way through this story. Not only was their chemistry beautifully steamy, but also they connected outside of the bedroom. It is like watching a relationship being born. The whole thing was so well-developed. Emma Chase makes you feel as though you’re part of it all the way through. I have never felt anything like it in a romance before. Royally Screwed outdid all of my expectations.

Good and bad bits

I have to gush about this book. First thing I want to say is I listen to Royally Screwed on Scribd, and I adored it. The voice actors did such a good job with the voices and it made me the entire experience SO much better than reading it ever could. Also, the way Olivia and Nicholas came together and spend time together was really well written. It was relateable (as much as possible) and understandable. I loved seeing their relationship come alive and your heart breaks for them as the drama ensues. I actually felt as though I was going to cry when certain things happen. It was such a raw emotional book and it surprised me as a romance book.

I have to mention the sex scenes because they were on fire. I mean seriously, if I hadn’t had fallen in love with the prince for just being him, his prowess in the bedroom would have won me over. There is a lot of sex in this book, but it never feels as though it’s taking anything away from the story or the plot. It was never just for the sake of it, and it felt natural all the way through.

My only bad bit was the predictability of the ending and the story in general. I wish there had been another ending and shock twist. It kind of felt a little bit like a cop out to me. But that might just be me!

Recommendation

I would 100% recommend this book. I have already binged the rest of the series and I am so glad I picked this one up. It was a brilliant read and I adored everything about it! The characters and wonderful plot made this book a complete joy. If you have even the slightest inkling to pick this one up, please do!
