Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

I did this tag last year and fell completely in love with it! I know I’m a little late this year but I couldn’t resist! I adore the questions and it’s a great way of looking over the start of the year!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2020

I loved this book and the intricate detail that is worked it’s way all the way through. I think the characters are really unique and the storyline is complex but easy to follow!

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020

I haven’t actually read a lot of sequels this year, but this series has become a fast favourite. I love the romance and the swoon worthy gents. I cannot wait to read the rest of them.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

I know this one has been out a little while now but I still haven’t managed to get around to it and I really want to. I might need to make it a priority in the coming months.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Anything by V.E. Schwab is sure to be a favourite and I cannot wait to read this one. I might even have a bit of a binge of her books to really get in the mood for it!

5. Biggest disappointment

I really wanted to love this book but I really struggled to find a character I loved and I found the relationship a little forced.

I wasn’t sure what to think when I went into this one. I knew that it was a lot of people’s favourite but nothing prepared me for how wonderfully written this book was.

7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)

This was such a great read for me, I loved the characters and the way the story was laid out and worked around the memories of the war. I couldn’t believe how utterly raw this book was.

8. Newest fictional crush

Is anyone actually surprised at this choice? Hunt was a beaaut and I loved the way he and Bryce were together and the banter they shared.

Leila is such a beautifully written character and her story was so well told that you genuinely feel as though you knew them as though they were in the room with you.

10. Book that made you cry

The history in this book was so heart wrenching and also completely realistic. I loved learning about a part of history that I knew very little about but reading about the suffering I sobbed.

11. Book that made you happy

I had mixed feelings about the relationships in this book. However the setting in this book was fantastic, I loved the character’s journey and the fantasy elements of the story.

12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

I LOVE the illustrated editions so was thrilled to add this one to my collection. I am hoping to have all of them eventually and when I have kids experience the world together.
