Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

I might be a little late jumping on this tag but when I read Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books version I knew I had to join. The idea is that you’re reviewing all the books you have read so far this year and answering the questions.

Sounds fun right?

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2019

Hands down. I cannot believe the amount of detail and world building that was put into this book. I love Samantha Shannon’s writing anyway but this was at a whole other level!

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019

The world of Strange the Dreamer just keeps getting better. The world and mythology that comes around in this book is phenomenal and I seriously hope there are more books to come.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

This book gives me all the Six of Crows vibe and I am all about this life! I cannot wait to make the time to read this. Another book that I’m thrilled to be adding to my ever growing TBR.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I love the idea of future telling in this book especially as there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount she can do about it! Plus that cover is phenomenal!

5. Biggest disappointment

I had heard such great things about the tone of this book and I was looking forward to having some more insight into my life. What I got? A preachy book that spent all it’s time bragging. Just wasn’t for me.

6. Biggest surprise

I have said many times that I am not a crime reader, I struggle with figuring out what had happened before I’m meant to know. This book kept me on my toes all the way through and I loved the way it was written.

7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)

This book was such a winner for me and it took me completely by surprise. I’m going to be looking into the rest of the series and other books by Brigid Kemmerer!

8. Newest fictional crush

So this actual book wasn’t my favourite but that doesn’t stop me having a HUGE crush on Matthew. I think I have an issue with how much I love him.

9. Newest favorite character

Bri from On the Come Up stole my heart. I loved her resilience and determination is something I only wished I had. I would definitely read an entire series based on her!

10. Book that made you cry

This book not only made me cry it was gut-wrenching. The way that the story is told and pulled in all the different directions. I sobbed for the characters and everything they were going through.

11. Book that made you happy

This entire series makes me so happy. I was so pleased that I managed to get to read this one this year. If you think of candy floss clouds this is that book.

12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

I was gifted the special collectors edition of Vicious for my birthday from my lovely husband. I adore this series and can not wait to jump into the sequel. Who doesn’t love morally grey characters and having to guess who’s the bad guy?!

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

This book is so so overdue. I love the Throne of Glass series, it’s one of my all time favourites. I think that’s why I’m putting this one off. I don’t want the series to end.

14. Favorite Book Community Member

I don’t have a single favourite, so I thought I would list some of the blogs I’m really enjoying reading at the moment and why.

And so many but these have been the ones I’ve been enjoying the past couple of months.
