January TBR | 2020
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I cannot believe I am already on my first TBR of a new year, I feel as though I blinked and 2019 was over and done with. Last year was such a blur and I tried really hard to complete some challenges but I lost track of them and I just didn’t prioritise them. Well, this year is going to be different. I’m going to change the way I do my TBR and I’m going to hold myself accountable, but also give myself some grace.
If you want to know more about the challenges I’m taking part in this year then check out my post here, I go into detail about why I’m taking part in each of them.

- Bound in Flame
- The Long Flight Home
- Stronger, Faster and More Beautiful
- No Fences in Alaska
These were all books on my December TBR, ones that I didn’t have chance to read. I’m determined to make time for them this month and catch up with everything. We shall see how that ends up going.

- Grave Mercy – I remember trying to read this series a long time ago and never got around to finishing the book. So after looking at my shelves, I decided to give it another go! | The Backlist Reader Challenge 2020 |
- Becoming – I’m currently reading this one and really enjoying it, it offers a different viewpoint on the Obama’s and their time in power. I am using this as a challenge book because I think Michelle Obama counts as a World Leader! | 52 Books in 52 Weeks Challenge – A Book About a World Leader |
- The Jane Austen Book Club – I am really looking forward to diving into this one. I think it will be right up my street especially with the different look at the Austen books with some added drama. | PopSugar Reading Challenge – A book about a book club |
- Girl, Woman, Other – I was really intrigued by this book and the fact that it won the Booker Prize won me over. However, I did try and read An Orchestra of Minorities but I couldn’t finish it! So I’m hoping that this one will be a better fit. | PopSugar Reading Challenge – A book that won an award in 2019 & 52 Books in 52 Weeks Challenge – A n award-winning book

- Akin – Room was one of my favourite books, and I was so excited to hear that she had written another one. I’m not sure whether the storyline appeals to me as much as Room but I’m willing to give it a go! | “A” in the A-Z Reading Challenge
- Agatha Raisin and the Vicious Vet – I’m continuing the Agatha Raisin series for a bit of fun for this month, and I cannot wait to read the next one in the list of many. | PopSugar Reading Challenge – A book from a series with more than 20 books |
- Death of a Cad – The next in the series and I want to see what is next in store for Hamish Macbeth! I’m interested to see whether this series remains my favourite out of the two. | PopSugar Reading Challenge – A book from an author who has written more than 20 books |
- Die Trying – I read Killing Floor last month and really enjoyed learning about the character and his way of doing things. I want to see if I continue to enjoy the series as a whole.

- Harry Potter 6 & 7 – I’m continuing my reread and I can’t wait to listen to more of the series. It is such a wonderful series and it feels like coming home when I dive back into it.

What are you reading this month? Anything new or exciting? Let me know!

I’ve heard really good things about Stronger, Faster and More Beautiful, I’d love to read that too😁
I’m kinda intrigued by it, the cover is absolutely stunning I’m just hoping I love the book as much as I do the aesthetics.
I LOVE Grave Mercy so much. I hope this second time around ends up being more successful for you. Enjoy all your January reads!
I’m really hoping I’m going to enjoy it, I have the sequel sat on my shelf so hopefully, it will be well-loved! Thank you!
