January Wrap Up | 2020
I blinked and the first month of the year is done and I have officially started my reading for the year. Scary times! I definitely haven’t done as well as I hoped I would, purely because I underestimated how much more time I would have to make for reading and working on the blog. Plus I had a set back at the start of the year where I crashed my car and that put me in a slump for a little while, but I have gotten myself back on track, here’s my January Wrap Up:
- 9 books read
- 0 e-arcs
- 3,136 pages
- 15 blog posts published (not including this one)
- 8/107 books read for Goodreads Challenge (1 book ahead)
- 6/50 prompts completed for the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge
- 4/26 letters completed for the A-Z Reading Challenge
- 6/52 prompts completed for the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge.

- Becoming by Michelle Obama | I have been wanting to read this book for a really long time and I did originally try the audiobook but without much success. I am SO glad I read this one, it really changed my perspective on a lot of things.
- Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo | This one took me by surprise, purely because it took me a lot longer to read than I thought it would. I loved the individual stories and I really loved the depth we got to know the characters.
- Die Trying by Lee Child | I am really enjoying this series, I do have an issue with the inconvenient sex that seems to happen in most of these books. But I love the easy drama of it all. They are definitely easy reading.
- Unbound by Victoria Schwab | For the first time in forever a sequel is actually better than the first book, and this was definitely the case for this one. I loved meeting all the new characters and the chance of normalcy.

- Agatha Raisin and the Vicious Vet by M. C. Beaton | I think this series is going to become a guilty pleasure read. I loved this one, actually more than the first one, I think the characters hit a different stride and it comes across well.
- Death of a Cad by M. C. Beaton | The tables have turned because although I enjoyed reading this one, it definitely wasn’t as enjoyable as the first. I think it got too convoluted with the romantic elements that entwine itself throughout.
- Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood | We’re reading all of the Hogarth Shakespeare books for my library book club and I thought I would jump ahead. I’m glad I did, I loved this book and the way it made me feel. The characters were intense and well written and I loved seeing where the story was going to end up going.
- Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear | This one took me by surprise, I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this. I loved how matter of fact it all was and how that brought up WAY more emotion than planned for.

- The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides | I was really sorry to end my month on this one, but I did. It disappointed me from start to finish, I had worked out what the massive plot twist was and I found the main character to be frustrating.

I thought I would show all the books that I didn’t manage to get read this month!

These will all be making their way onto future TBRS, probably February if I’m honest. I also didn’t finish or really listen to any of my audiobooks. So I shall be trying to pick that up a little bit more as well!

What did you manage to get read this month? Leave your links down below!

Oh my god no I’m sorry you crashed your car, I hope that it ended up okay though! It seems like you still managed to read a whole lot of books so that’s amazing. I really loved Unbound as well, such a great sequel!
I hope you’ll have a great month! <3
I know it was such an awful start to the year and it really left me in a slump, unfortunately I couldn’t save the car and ended up having to get another one! I did manage to pull it back as the month went on, Unbound was probably one of my favourite reads of the month! You too <3
I have Hag-seed on my shelf. I wasn’t sure when I purchased it, I bought from author’s name. It’s good you enjoyed this book. I wish Feb in reading turn out as good as this one. Happy reading!
I really loved Hag-Seed so would definitely push you to read it! Thaaank you! <3
Sorry to hear about the car accident and hope you’re OK. I read 13 books in Jan which is pretty good going for me – I did have a cold though and just lay around, reading, last weekend. My round-up and state of the TBR post is here https://librofulltime.wordpress.com/2020/02/01/state-of-the-tbr-february-2020/
I’m fine, my poor car isn’t but I have a nice new one! I love weekends like that, even when you feel rubbish, hope you’re feeling better soon. Thanks for the link!
Looks like you had a pretty good reading month but sorry to hear about the car accident! Hope you are okay. I’ve heard about that series by Victoria Schwab and have been wanting to read it for ages!! I keep hearing good things about it.
