2022 Plans.
I always love to look forward to the next year and work out what I want to do with the blog and my reading for that year. I thought that 2021 was going to be the year I got to all of my goals and was super successful, but I was thrilled to find out I was pregnant. After having a rough pregnancy, a premature birth and a newborn there wasn’t an awful lot of motivation for reading, writing and myself in general. My 2022 plans are going to be less ambitious but I’m definitely going to push myself and see what I can achieve even with a new baby and different priorities.
2022 plans for reading
As always I’m going to take part in various challenges for the year. I love the structure it gives my reading and I’m hoping by having a more specific reading goals will give me something strive for and the motivation to reach it. I’m also going to take the pressure off and not worry so much about completing them but having fun with it.
- Popsugar 2022 Reading Challenge
- This one has been a favourite for the past couple of years. I love the prompts and I always find new books to read and enjoy. I think this will be a good one to keep me on track for the year while also not having a huge amount of pressure added.
- The 52 Book Club’s Reading Challenge
- Another favourite, I tried this one last year and I think there is a good mixture of easy to fill prompts and other ones that make me think and buy new books. I’m hoping this year I will be able to make a dent in the books already on my TBR.
- My Kindle stash
- My previous post touches on this but I have realised over the last month or so that I have a HUGE amount of books on my Kindle with no way of keeping a track of which ones I want to read and when. I have put them in priority order, so I really want to get through a decent amount of them this year.
Blogging plans
My blog has really fallen off the radar this past year. It hasn’t been a priority and I just haven’t forced myself to keep up with any of my posts. I think once my reading fell off and I wasn’t this high-achieving reader anymore the blog felt like a reminder of that. I wanted desperately to keep writing but book reviews became a chore. Plus with my reading taking a hit it all felt like it was rubbing my failures in my face. It wasn’t a fun place to be anymore and I actually considered quitting completely. My 2022 plans for the blog are less ambitious as with my reading. However I want to focus on consistency and things I enjoy again.
- Consistency – post at least once a week! I want to get back to writing and updating on here on a regular basis. But my every other day schedule just doesn’t seem to be feasible at the moment. I’m not reading as much and with a new baby, I need to be realistic in what I can manage.
- New photos – I’ve updated the design of the blog, again. So I need to get on top of updating the imaging on the blog posts. I want to by the end of the year have everything updated and cohesive. It is a really big undertaking but one which will make me feel accomplished. Plus it’s a relatively easy task to do on days where the tiredness is real.
- Social media – I want to start documenting not only my reading but also my life on social media again. I loved posting on instagram especially and I think the pressure of not having the perfect photos meant I stopped. So it’s going to be more fun. One thing I’m going to try is doing a post every day for a year and see how it goes!
Life plans 2022
Would it be completely dramatic to say, survive? Probably. But that’s my plan. I am planning on loving on my baby boy, and making it through to the end of the year with my sanity intact and with my baby in one piece. I really want to enjoy my maternity leave and get to know my son and work out who I am as a person as a mother, wife and a human. So no plans as such but I cannot wait to see my little boy grow into a little human and be a part of that journey.

What are your 2022 plans? I would love to know what challenges you’re taking part in and how you see your year panning out!

Lovely post <3 For the first time I will participate in the Pop sugar challenge too, so excited!
Thank you! I hope your year goes well!
What lovely plans! You don’t have to be perfect to be on Instagram, and my top tip for doing a photo a day (I’m in my 9th year of doing so) is to take a “placeholder” photo early in the day. Yes, it will often end up being your only photo, so do it early and you won’t miss one! Have fun and enjoy your baby and different family life!
I’m already running behind on Instagram hahah. I’ve caught up though, but it was inevitable, will definitely be using your advice!
