The fifth installment in Seanan McGuire's award-winning, bestselling Wayward Children series, Come Tumbling Down picks up the threads left dangling by Every Heart a Doorway and Down Among the Sticks and Bones
When Jack left Eleanor West's School for Wayward Children she was carrying the body of her deliciously deranged sister--whom she had recently murdered in a fit of righteous justice--back to their home on the Moors.
But death in their adopted world isn't always as permanent as it is here, and when Jack is herself carried back into the school, it becomes clear that something has happened to her. Something terrible. Something of which only the maddest of scientists could conceive. Something only her friends are equipped to help her overcome.
Eleanor West's "No Quests" rule is about to be broken.
Again.
When I heard that the latest Wayward Children book was centred around Jack and Jill I was beyond excited. Come Tumbling Down is basically my dream book and I have to say the writing and how beautifully this book was written and the setting of The Moors. I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting and this book surpassed everything that I could have possibly wanted in this book. There was a great storyline, quests and shocking twists which left me completely thrown and without direction. Come Tumbling Down made me so happy and SO excited for the next book in the series.
This book focuses on Jack and her quest to put back a wrong that had happened to her. She comes back to the school and enlists the help of Kade, Cora and Christopher and brings them back to the Moors and shows them the inside of her world. I loved the reactions of the other characters all the way through Come Tumbling Down because it really pointed out the differences between everyone’s world despite the fact that Christopher, for example, travelled to a similarly dark world he actually hated the Moors and the rules they all lived by. The way that Cora had been taunted by the sea and the Drowned Gods and I adore her thought process and how she struggled with the idea of where she was supposed to be and which world she belonged to and why.
My favourite character interaction was Kade and Cora, it was really wonderful to see these two spending more time together and showing how they cared for each other. I think Kade is one of the best characters I have ever read and I am waiting kinda impatiently for his story and I think his love for everyone makes him a wonderful addition to the school and I will never not rave about how wonderful he is.
When I think of Come Tumbling Down the one thing I truly adored was learning more about the Moors and the different places that make up the places around them. It was fascinating, I really loved the mythology and the idea of monsters and what constitutes a monster and how they come to be. I loved reading about the different perceptions that are placed on the different people and the worlds they lived in.
I really don’t think there was anything bad about Come Tumbling down, it was a really good ending to Jack and Jill’s story whilst also leaving it open for another story.
I don’t think I need to tell you I recommend this book and this series. It’s still one of my favourites and I cannot wait for the next one.

Let me know if you’ve read this one!
