Books I Enjoyed But Rarely Talk About | Top Ten Tuesday

I had to really think about this one because I review most if not all of the books I read so I was trying to think about books that I loved that might have just missed a favourites post or might not have been mentioned for a really long time.

  • Howl’s Moving Castle | I read this one a long time ago but I love the Studio Ghibli film and I actually loved the differences in the novel, I always said I would carry on with the series but never did.
  • Goodnight Mister Tom | This one has a special place in my heart and I love the story, I don’t think I have ever mentioned my love for this book and the story. Plus the movie always makes me sob.
  • The Winner’s Curse | This series was so hyped up a little while ago and I really loved it. You don’t hear much about this one now, but it was one of my favourite series that I binged.
  • Fangirl | I’ve chosen Fangirl but this could count for any of Rainbow Rowell’s books. I love each and every one in a totally different way. The characters are some of the best and I love the way all of the stories wind their way around them.
  • It’s Kind of a Funny Story | If you are looking for a book on mental illness, this would be my choice. The way that depression is talked about and looked at within this book was some of the best.
  • Unwind | I can’t actually remember reading Unwind but I remember it being one of my favourites of the year. Neal Shusterman has gained a little more hype with his Scythe series.
  • The Shock of the Fall | I loved this book and learning about the way a single moment has affected so many people’s lives. It was a beautifully written book and I still think about it now, and can’t bring myself to unhaul it.
  • Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe | This was a book that has such wonderful relationships and the discovery of life and how one summer changes everything.
  • All the Light We Cannot See | I love WWII historical fiction and this was all the things that I love. I know I have mentioned beautifully written books, but this one really was beautiful.
  • The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry | I loved the relationships and the lives that are told all the way through this book. The way this book made me feel was unbelievable, well worth a read!

  1. I enjoyed It’s Kind of a Funny Story too! I don’t read a lot of books about mental health because they hit a little too close to home, but I’ll always make an exception for that one 🙂

  2. I just read All the Light We Cannot See in December and I couldn’t believe I waited so long to read it. The writing and story were so beautiful – and books don’t usually make me cry, but this one did!
