The Gunslinger | I must admit defeat.

I am going to break one of the rules of my 2018 must read list, I am officially admitting defeat, The Gunslinger is just not for me. I have tried to get into the story and I just can’t, the timeline is confusing, plus I don’t have a clue as to what is going on, like NO clue. It just isn’t a nice book to read, there’s a lot of pedantic detail which if I’m being honest I have no interest in.

I don’t know whether I’m missing the point slightly but there seems to be a conflict on which timezone this book is set in. Everything is a little jumbled in my mind and I couldn’t wrap my head around it, even after rereading passages and at this point I don’t even think rereading would solve my issue with not knowing what is going on.

I also think a big problem with this book is that it’s not grabbing my attention and there are about three hundred books on my TBR which I would prefer to be reading right now. So I’m breaking my 100 page rule, and calling it quits after 51, I can’t go on anymore. Which actually makes me sad, because this is my first DNF of 2018 and I had such high hopes for The Gunslinger and this series.

I am going to make a conscious effort to read books that I am enjoying going forward, I think I have to get rid of my own pressure at having to finish a book even if it’s not enjoyable! This is just a small step in that direction, especially with it being one of the books that I had to have read. So on with my TBR, which has changed slightly as I have some new ARCs that need reading this month. I’ll be posting reviews all throughout this month of some new upcoming books.
