Looming war threatens all Feyre holds dear in the third volume of the #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.
As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords-and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
In this thrilling third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from Sarah J. Maas, the earth will be painted red as mighty armies grapple for power over the one thing that could destroy them all.
Three books and this series is still one of my favourites. The way the stories arc into each other really makes me happy. Plus the characters seem to be growing in interesting ways, and I just really love learning all about the different courts and characters and this book was the perfect way to get insight into all of that, in fact A Court of Wings and Ruin might even be my favourite because of it.
I think my only issue with this book was the beginning, I was expecting a lot more than what we got from Feyre. I was a little disappointed if I’m honest that there wasn’t more done over in the Spring Court, I was expecting fireworks and it was kind of a sputter compared to my expectations. Not to say it ruined the book but it just wasn’t the strongest beginning.
I think this book was wonderful because it was strategy and building alliances which if you have read my books before is one of my favourite things about any kinda of book. I just love politics especially when it is done well and you learn something about the world in the process. Basically this book was a little slower paced than the previous books but it wasn’t a necessarily bad thing – it added a lot to the characters back story and I just really enjoyed the entirety of A Court of Wings and Ruin! Except maybe the ending – a little to well wrapped together – which is all I will say on the matter!
Favourite character in A Court of Wings and Ruin was definitely Rhysand, and unless something really awful happens in the later books I don’t think that is likely to change. He has become a really rounded character that never fails to entertain me throughout. I love his relationships all the way through with every one of the different members of his court. I just love how much he has developed over the three books.
Least favourite character in A Court of Wings and Ruin would have to be Tamlin, I thought the way his character and his plot line played out was disappointing. I was expecting a lot more and I was left in the lurch. I just expected more from his court and his character… I’ll get over it though. I will totally get over it.
I love this series and if you haven’t read it then you should totally pick it up, it is a rich series with brilliant characters and brilliant plot points. I adore every part of this book and the previous ones in the series.
This book has been seen as a little bit of a let down but I adore the characters? Is there anything you would have changed about the story or characters? Let me know in the comments.
