Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.
Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world torn apart.

I am really loving rereading this series, and The Court of Mist and Fury is definitely one of my favourite. There may be some spoilers for A Court of Thorns and Roses. I love the moments of rawness that permeate throughout the entire book. Emotions run so high and relationships break and there is this aftermath to deal with. The way everything plays out in this book makes so much sense as well as being completely realistic. I adore the characters and the new insight into the world and the politics. Plus there is a sense of rightness when it comes to the ending. I just can’t come up with the words to explain why I love this one quite as much as I do.

Characters in A Court of Mist and Fury

Within A Court of Mist and Fury we get to know Rhysand and his court in more detail. It adds so much more context to everything that happened Under the Mountain. I think seeing him on his home turf and with the people he loves made him more human. It also contradicts the monster we saw all the way through the previous book. I just really love watching his interactions with not only Feyre but with everyone around him. There is definitely a reason he is one of my favourite characters in the series.

I love meeting Cassian and Azriel. I love the dynamic that the two of them bring to the story and to the relationships. It was a brilliant way of introducing the brutal nature of the Night Court and how they look after their own. I really think they are some of the best characters I have read about. They have such depth and interesting back stories, and I always enjoy reading more about them. There always feels like there’s something new to learn about them and their lives.

A Court of Mist and Fury book quote

The good and the good

As with most of these books there isn’t a lot I don’t like about this book. I just need to gush about the romance elements and the way everything plays out. Like I’ve mentioned above the politics and the set up within the Night Court was beautifully written about and there was some really lovely moments between not only Rhys and Feyre but everything. I think the way the world was set up was brilliantly done, and I think it’s some of the best writing within the series. Not only does it show off the world but also the characters. It is as always a fantastic read.

Recommendation

Would always recommend this one. I think there is something really wonderful about these books and the characters. It was a brilliant reread and I can’t wait to get to the other books.
