You'd think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you'd be wrong. Because now, the aliens are having ship trouble, and they've left their cargo of human women - including me - on an ice planet.
And the only native inhabitant I've met? He's big, horned, blue, and really, really has a thing for me...

Ice Planet Barbarians is definitely a weird and completely unbelievable book. There were moments where I genuinely couldn’t understand what and why things were happening. However, I enjoyed this book so freaking much. I kinda just want to binge the whole series. I mean there was a ridged blue alien who mates with a human and looks after her. It’s kinda sweet in a completely raunchy way and I loved it. This book was not great literature but the genuine bones of the story were there. Plus there were some really great characters and wonderful one-liners. I will say this book does have non-consensual sex and suicide involved. So if they’re triggers for you then definitely stay away from this one.

Characters in Ice Planet Barbarians

The main character in Ice Planet Barbarians is Georgie. She wakes up on a spaceship away from earth with other women. She’s such a strong-willed character and I think this is what makes her interesting. The friendship with the other women seems to be genuine and is still strong. This is even after she has met her love interest. I really loved her point of view of everything and seeing how her dry wit shaped our view of the world. I do think her reaction to certain issues was lacking. The best bit was even though she had found “her mate” she wasn’t ready to give up her choice. I thought this was a really interesting concept.

The other main character is the hero, Vektal, who is also given a voice throughout the plot and story. Which was a little interesting because you get to see how the two worlds differ. I really loved seeing his interpretation especially because him and Georgie couldn’t communicate and understand one another. It was just a really great concept and one that added more to the story than their smut and romance. It was great to see his side of everything and also the values he lived by.

The other characters in Ice Planet Barbarians are mainly women who were aboard the spaceship with Georgie in the beginning. I will say that they weren’t as developed as I would have liked. The friendship was a little lacking but was still a strong point. I haven’t read any of the other book’s synopsis. But I guess that each woman will end up having their own book. Which will be their own story which would be great to see how it all comes together in the end.

Ice Planet Barbarians quote

Good and Bad Bits

I am still relatively new to this genre and I’m still not sure what I like yet. What I definitely loved about Ice Planet Barbarians was the amount of plot and world-building. There was this perfect balance that meant the book never felt as though it dragged. Or that there was anything boring happening to it. I think I’m going to end up carrying on with the series because I want to see how it all ends. I also want to find out more about the planet and its culture. Which was definitely not the reason I thought I would give for a smutty book like this one.

The only thing about Ice Planet Barbarians and probably the rest of the series was how unbelievable it was at times. I definitely think there were moments that really pushed me to the edge of my suspension of disbelief. As much as awful things happen and are looked at in some ways, in others they end up being brushed under the carpet. Injuries for me was a big one that seemed to go unnoticed after a while and that bothered me a little.

Recommendation

If you’re looking for a good smut fest then this book is definitely one for you. Ice Planet Barbarians has a brilliant plotline and world-building. Which I think was a brilliant addition to the story and added to my enjoyment of the story. So yes I would definitely recommend this one.
