NaNoWriMo Week 2 | 2019
This has been the week of resentment and overwhelming self-doubt. I now work in a library and I love it. It has really reignited my love of reading, which for the last couple of months has been a really good thing, but now that I am having to write 1667 words every day that is becoming a bit of a nuisance. I get to see so many wonderful books at work and all I want to do is read. I just don’t have the time anymore so I started feeling a little bit of resentment towards NaNo but I know that it’s only a month and then it’ll be Christmas and I’ll have a little time off to enjoy that.
In terms of self-doubt, I think this was a case of me getting ahead of myself a little. I began thinking about “After Nano” and the fact that this book actually feels more like a well-done book than any other of my attempts that I actually want this one to go somewhere. I have even had thoughts about a sequel I would like to write next year. But to get to that point I would have to undertake rewriting, which is somewhere I always get stuck with anyway add crippling self-doubt into the mix and it goes nowhere fast. So my week has been a mixture of wanting to quit because I want to read more, or because I don’t think it’s good enough and I don’t want to edit. It’s not been a fun week to try and push through but here are my stats for the week:
- Word count – 26,708
- Amount of scenes – 11 completed and one started
- Finishing date – 28th November
So I’m still a couple of days ahead of myself and my goal is to stay like that until the end. Not going to lie though it feels really nice to have a buffer especially with it being cold and flu season here.

How is your writing going this week? Let me know in the comments.
