I don’t think it comes as a surprise that this is the year of going to miss my 2018 Goodreads challenge. I’m not feeling to bad about it, 2017 has been a year full of changes, for a start my new job has kicked my butt all year and the stress has kind off knocked me off my reading game.
I started out with an aim of 100 books on my 2017 Goodreads challenge but cut that down to 80 when I realised how much work my new job was going to entail. I do think that come next year I’ll keep my target of 80 books only because I think I have a better grasp of my schedule than I did at the beginning. Plus I’m determined to make more of an effort to read, especially now I’ve missed this year.
I’ve read some really great books, and some that weren’t so great, which I’ll be outlining in upcoming blog posts. I think 2017 has been the year where I have questioned what I like to read. In fact I actually think that I’m beginning to outgrow YA and I’m not sure how many years I have left before the tropes grind on me to the point where I just won’t be able to read anymore.
I’ve always been hard on myself about the reading challenges, and I definitely think that 2018 is going to be the year I stop being so hard on myself. The year I stop taking it so seriously. I already have a start with my 12 books on my Books I Need to Read list. Just need to find 68 more. 2018 is going to be my year. I can feel it.
Did you take part in the 2017 Goodreads challenge? How well did you get on this year? Let me know in the comments!
