The price of freedom is always paid in blood.
The sovereigns of the Silver have awakened, but the Queen is a fractured shell of the woman Cam remembers. He hopes to put her back together by finding her son, the missing prince. At least, that’s what he tells his friends when he leaves for the Red.
Back in the Blue, Julia’s old tormentor Rufus is hounding her at every turn. She’s sick of feeling powerless, but she has a plan that will bring the Nobles to their knees. All she needs is blood.
The Blood Prince is the final book in Josie Jaffrey’s Sovereign trilogy, set in a dystopian Europe where vampiric Nobles control the last remnants of the human race.
I was very kindly given an e-arc of The Blood Prince by Josie Jaffrey, and if you have followed the blog for a while then you know that I have loved this book series all the way through. I think the characters are really well developed and I always love the way that the books end so I’m actually really sad that this is the end of this series. If you haven’t read my other reviews then you should check them out here and here.
The Blood Prince is where Julia and all the issues that have been building up throughout the other two books come to a head. I do have to say that I struggled a little to remember who was who and where they fitted into the story. However I did love the twists and turns in this story and how they all ended up. It was definitely a great way to end the series, especially with everything that happens and the conclusions that they all come to.
I think my favourite part of this series and The Blood Prince is the fact that Julia and Lucas’ relationship isn’t the easiest and it isn’t completely sorted from the moment they meet. There was no love at first sight issue and I wasn’t left feeling like it was going to be some cheesy love story that wasn’t believable. It still wasn’t like that at the end of this book, which I think made me like the characters more and it made sure that I was invested in the relationship purely because it was based on something other than looks and
We have to talk about the ending and how satisfying it was. Everything was tied up nicely and I loved the fact that although I really didn’t want this series to end, I was happy it ended the way it did. I don’t think there could have been a better book than The Blood Prince for the ending of this series. I love this book all the more for the closure it gives. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for any other books by Josie Jaffrey.
If you are looking for a series that surrounds vampires but with a really good twist then this is the series for you. I don’t think this series gets the buzz it deserves. I think this will be on the favourite list for a long time.
