Sunday’s in Bed with… The Cuckoo’s Calling | Blogmas Day 18

I finished The Girl on the Train this week and tried reading Angel by L A Weatherly and DNF’d it after sixty pages. The characters weren’t well written and the story was really obvious. I hate not finishing books, it makes me feel icky and horrible inside. Something about my bookworm problems to be honest. Anyway it meant that I had an empty space next to my bed so I chose to pick up The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith otherwise known as J K Rowling. I loved this book when I read it a couple of years ago, but I didn’t have the sequels and now I do. I want to read the whole of this series in time for the new book coming out in 2017.

I’m on an adult kick at the moment. I don’t know what it is but Young Adult just doesn’t seem to be scratching the itch. Maybe I’m outgrowing YA, which would be a sad day, but not the end of the world. The world of fiction is vast and unlimited, so I will never be short of books to read. It just feels like the end of an era.

Have you read The Cuckoo’s Calling? Or have you outgrown the YA genre? Did you survive the transition?

  1. I read a fair mix of YA and Adult (and now that I work in a bookstore I’m even reading Children’s and MG), but sometimes I’m just in the mood for a certain tone that a particular genre fills. I really need to read The Cuckoo’s Calling- I have it and the second book, but somehow I haven’t made the time. But I will!

    1. I adore The Cuckoo’s Calling, I finished it last night and have moved onto the second. We’ll see if that one is as big a success as this one, the tone seems to be a little different so who knows. I hope it isn’t the end of YA for me but it wouldn’t be an awful thing if it was. 🙂
