It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Books I read last week
Last week was a complete mixed bag, for me, The Diviners was a flop, the pacing was totally off and I thought the plot was overshadowed by everything else going on. I just thought that there was too much about the setting that everything else felt like an afterthought and I was sorely disappointed with everything.
Burial Rites, on the other hand, blew me away, the writing style and the setting was absolutely stunning. The entirety of this book gripped me, and I was SO surprised because nothing really happens. I would totally suggest picking this book up! It really has something special about it!
Both books have full reviews on them which are linked by the covers!
Listened to last week/Currently listening
I haven’t actually made any progress on this one! There has been no time for me to take some me time and listen to it. Which actually makes me feel really awful because I genuinely enjoy this series and listening to it, so not having the time is something that I need to remedy and fast!
I am changing tack a little, due to the fact that I am currently reading Voyager which I planned to do but I’m not getting through it as fast as I thought I was, and I am very aware that I have to read Mirage or try to before the publication date at the end of August. So I’m going to try reading them both at the same time, especially as Voyager is an added extra this month!
I’m going to be jumping back into my August TBR and if I manage to read the two books above which I doubt I will but it’s always good to hope! Which is apt seeing as I’m looking to read The Sudden Appearance of Hope! I’m actually really looking forward to reading this, so I’ll actually be disappointed if I don’t get to it!
Let me know what you’re reading this week and if you have any recommendations for me!
