Over Hyped Books | Blogmas Day 23

blogmas 2016, over hyped books / Friday, December 23rd, 2016

Being a part of the book blog community is amazing, you meet like minded people and get to have some great discussions about all the books you’ve read. But with that becomes over-hyped books. Books you are told will ruin your life, make you feel all the things, books that will ruin all other books for you. BUT then you read the book and BAM all those expectations come crumbling down and you feel empty. Welcome to the world of books that were so over hyped it hurts.

Queen of the Tearling

I heard so many great things about this book, plus there were all those rumours about Emma Watson playing the main character. It seemed to be a sure win for me, but it was awful. I found the whole plot line to be superficial and it was awkwardly done. There was some serious potential there but the payoff was pale in comparison to what I heard. Just another one of the books that were so over hyped.

The Girl on the Train

Oh how this raised my expectations, it was billed as the next Gone Girl. Well I wasn’t particularly impressed with Gone Girl but this was supposed to be amazing. This was one of the books that were so over hyped that when it failed to pull it off I was more than disappointed, I was angry. The plot was transparent, so much that I worked out what was going on halfway through. Not good.

Shadow and Bone series

I heard such great things about this entire series, so when I went in and found the characters to be badly written and with awful storylines it quickly went downhill from there. I just hated Alina. She was an awful character with awful reactions and relationships. Biggest disappointment.

Half Bad series

This was a series that started off so well, it had a decent beginning as in the first book grabbed my attention but boy is the books well deserving of being on the list of books that were so over hyped. I thought the ending was overrated and awful is the only word to describe this series.

The Song of Achilles

The fanart for this book was so over the top I couldn’t help but pick it up. But oh how I was mistaken. The relationship that everyone rants and raves about, it was awful and badly done. It was so superficial and the ending was another one that let me down! Overhyped is the only way to describe this book!

Have you ever been let down by a book so badly it made you angry and upset? If so, let me know what it was in the comments below!
