This past weekend I was privileged to go to the Trafford Centre with three of my favourite people in the world.
We all went down for Lisa’s birthday and let’s just say by the time we were done, bank balances were broken and our feet were aching. I thought it would be a cool blog post if I showed which books I bought and why.
The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
This book series was a total splurge purchase, I had heard some booktubers talk about it and I was super intrigued. It has made up a big part of my big book haul. So when I saw them all sat there waiting to be bought I got all three. It was a bit of a risk but I think I’m going to enjoy them, fingers crossed.
It apparently follows two young girls who are being sorted into either School of Good or the School of Evil. They get swapped or something and the adventure begins from there.
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
I have heard nothing but great things about this series, not only that but on the front it says it’s perfect for Game of Thrones lovers. Which is a category I certainly fit into. I’ve certainly got high expectations.
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
This is the highly anticipated sequel to A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I’m so excited to jump back into this series. I love the writing and the world. I just want to fall in love with the characters again, I’m just praying that it doesn’t suffer from second book syndrome.
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
This one has flew under my radar, I’ve not heard a lot about it but the blurb on the back seemed to be something that I would enjoy, but we will see. Maybe it’ll be great, maybe it won’t.
Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider
If I’m being totally honest I don’t really know what this book is about but I love the cover. I think that I want to try and read some more contemporary this year and I thought this might be a cool place to start.
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I’ve read the first book in this series and totally fell in love with it. I’m so excited to FINALLY read the second and see if I love it quite as much as the first!
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I did a thing. I bought a book purely based on the author. I disregarded my friends opinion about this book and bought it anyway. I’m so hoping I enjoy it, because if I don’t I think I’m going to be super disappointed.
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
The wonderful things I have been hearing about this book totally won me over so added it to my big book haul. I think its about a man who lives and dies and then in one of his lives he’s told that he needs to save the world, it’s very intriguing.
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman
I bought this at the recommendation of a Waterstones member of staff and I thought it sounded really cool, however I’ve just read that it’s a mixture of Jane Eyre and Cassandra Clare. Super excited about Jane Eyre, not so much with the Cassandra Clare. A nice addition to my big book haul. We shall see about it… fingers crossed.
Let me know which books you want to buy and read. Or if you’ve read any let me know if they’re any good in the comments below.
