I had a great month of reading in the sense that I read some books I’ve really been meaning to get to. However I’ve had a run of awful books this months – some of them have been a real let down and I couldn’t have been more disappointed to be honest. Plus because I’m so busy at work it means that I only really have the weekends open for intense reading, so I’m not reading as much as I thought I was going to. But on with my May 2017 Wrap Up.
This was the last book in the sorta trilogy and the first on my May 2017 Wrap Up. I struggled through the story and was kinda left feeling a little let down! This book had none of the well rounded romance and lovely characters that the other books had. The others were well worth the read, just wish this one had lived up to the build up! Read my full review here!
I don’t have enough words to tell you how badly I hated this book, I hated the characters and their relationships. This book dealt with suicide and mental illness in one of the worst ways. I just hated everything about this book. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy and I struggled through, but you can read all my thoughts here.
This is the first book in a series that has been sat on my shelf for months – I am desperately running out of room on my bookshelves and I need to make room. What better way than to get rid of series I just don’t want anymore. Unfortunately this is one of them – I was hoping for another guilty pleasure read but this wasn’t it. I wrote an entire review about my issues with the underdeveloped plot and characters, read it here.
This was a reread in order to get ready for the new release. I adore this world and all the characters and reliving this book was great because this is the book where everything gets better. The first book was good but this was GREAT! Plus we get a whole load more of Rhysand and who could be upset with that? Read my full review here.
Sarah J Maas’ new release – to say I was excited about this book was a complete understatement! This book didn’t let me down! The level of political intrigue in this book is unbeliveable and so well done! I just thought this was a well written – well paced book. You can read all my swoon worthy thoughts in my full review here!
Another new release on my May 2017 Wrap Up and another from one of my favourite authors. I was expecting great things from this book because his writing is some of the best. This story line of this book disappointed me a little but the characters were so rich and wonderful! You can read my review here!
Someday, Someday, Maybe
I have been listening to this for what seems forever but it finally made my May 2017 Wrap Up. I love Lauren Graham and I loved her auto-biography and the way she narrated her own story that I thought this would be the same. I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I was going to. I found the story slow paced and a little weird at times. Look out for my full review, coming very soon!
I’m plodding on with my job and desperately trying to find some time to read and write and do all the things I want to get done. I did have my birthday this month and upgraded my engagement ring which was a lovely surprise and one of my favourite gifts of all time.
What have you been up to this month? Have you read any great books that you think I might enjoy? Let me know in the comments!
