Jurassic Park | Can’t Wait Wednesday #5

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, created to discuss books that book bloggers haven’t read yet and they’re usually books yet to be released. I ran across it when looking for new content ideas for The Book Blog Life, and it looked like so much fun. BUT I’m going to break the rules a little, it’s rare for me to be looking forward to book releases, PURELY because I’m so busy with everything else going on I don’t have the time to keep a track of sequels, and so forth. So I think I’m going to do books that are sat on my shelf for a little while and I can’t wait to read them so this week it will be Jurassic Park!

Jurassic Park | Can’t Wait Wednesday #5Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
Genres: Fiction
Published by Knopf Publishing Group

State-of-the-art science and suspense combine in this uniquely exciting high-tension thriller from the author of The Andromeda Strain. Bio-engineers create authentic, detail-perfect, real-life dinosaurs for a Pacific island theme park, but scientific triumph explodes into horrendous disaster as the first visitors encounter the unbelievable.

I am a HUGE fan of the Jurassic Park films but have never made the time to read the book that inspired it all. I’ve always been a little worried that the book won’t live up to the films. Which is strange because it’s usually the other way around. I bought the book a long time ago in a charity shop and it has sat on my shelf ever since. I don’t think I’ve ever been more intimidated by a book in my life!

Have you read Jurassic Park? Did you love it? Does it live up to how great the film is? Let me know in the comments!

  1. We were supposed to read Jurassic Park in school when the very first movie came out. I read part of it, and remember some–the leeches!–but I never finished it. I should dig up a copy and finally do so. (My in-laws are moving and my brother-in-law’s copy has gone missing to his considerable consternation.)

I went with some crime fiction for this week.

  2. I read this book way back in the day – like when it was published – long before the movies. I think you’ll find it will live up to the movies, though it’s different. At the time I read it, I was amazed. It was so fresh and different. Good luck!
