Once again I’ve fallen short of my goal by one book. I can’t make excuses for this month, I just haven’t made the time. I prioritised TV, only because I have like three TV shows to try and catch up on. It was a month of rereads really. I wanted to read and finish some of the series that I’ve had sat on my shelf for a little while. Welcome to my June Wrap Up
The Final Empire
The Final Empire was the one book that I hadn’t finished last month. The story follow a group of rebels as they plan their most dangerous job yet. This has quickly become one of my favourites, the characters and the plot line are original and strong. I really enjoyed the magic system, it was different and allowed for great character development. If you enjoyed Six of Crows this is definitely a book for you. Read my full review here.
The Winner’s Trilogy
This month I reread the first two and finished the third so the whole series made my June Wrap Up. This series follows the story of a general who is thrown into a world of politics and danger. I can’t really say much more without giving too much away. It has some of the best politics and best character dynamics that I’ve read. I definitely recommend it if you enjoy a strong female lead. Review of the entire series is imminent.
I listened to this on Audible. It follows a young boy and his Ma as they live in an 11×11 shed in the backyard of their captor. This book is an emotional rollercoaster that leaves you gasping for air by the end. I couldn’t believe the impact of having a 5 year old narrator. It was intense. I wrote an entire review here.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
The first in Sarah J Maas’ new explosive series. It follows Feyre in a loose Beauty and the Beast retelling as she finds herself in a world with the fae. I will say that the second reading made it wear a little thin. I still really enjoy the characters and the story, but I’ll probably wait a little longer before I reread it again. A review will be up shortly make sure you watch out for that.
That was my month of reading. It wasn’t too bad of an effort, I’m really trying to balance my life better. So who knows next month might be even better. Let me know what you’re reading this month and why!
