June TBR | Challenging myself

I still can’t quite believe that we are nearly halfway through 2016. It’s unbelievable how quickly this year is going by. Another month another June TBR, and another set of reading goals, we’re aiming high again this month, with a lot of rereads and sequels.

  1. The Final Empire
  2. The Winner’s Curse
  3. The Winner’s Crime
  4. The Winner’s Kiss
  5. A Court of Thorns and Roses
  6. A Court of Mist and Fury

The Final Empire is the book left over from last month’s tbr, and I’m really enjoying it. I’m getting serious Six of Crows vibes which is possibly why I’m loving it so much. The story and magical system is really original and I’m really loving the way the book is written, I can see it quickly becoming one of my favourites.

The first reread, The Winner’s Curse is one of my favourite books and I was so lucky to actually meet Marie at YALC last year. It was one of those moments where you just forget that this is real life. I guess that’s how normal people feel when they meet famous actors.

Second reread, the sequel The Winner’s Crime. This series definitely doesn’t suffer from second book syndrome, the characters are fantastic. The politics are fantastic and you really get a feel for the characters and the setting. If you haven’t started this series you really need to.

The Winner’s Kiss is the final book in the series, and to say that I’m excited to get to it is an understatement of the century. I cannot wait to see how the politics end and what happens to each of the characters, the way their stories unfold is going to be fascinating.

Hopefully after all of those I’ll get around to reading A Court of Thorns and Roses as well as A Court of Mist and Fury, the first one is well written and I really enjoyed reading it. The sequel has had nothing but buzz and good reviews, so apparently it’s actually better than the first which I find hard to believe but I’m so ready to find out.

What are you reading this month? Anything exciting? Let me know in the comments below.
