I stumbled across The Book Blogger Hop – I’m trying to become more active not only posting on my blog but also within the book blogger community – and this week we’re talking about blogging achievements and milestones.
What’s your proudest blogging milestone or achievement? (submitted by Cathy @ What Cathy Read Next)
I had to think about this and work out what I classed as a milestone or achievement. At first thought, I thought I should base it on how many hits I have and the time when I hit 100, 1000 and so on so forth but my blog means more to me than that. I love the fact that people are reading my stuff but there’s so much more behind all of it than just the numbers.
So going off of that thought process, I think one of my biggest milestones/achievements would have to be getting my first comment, the feeling that someone had not only read my stuff but actually wanted to interact was out of this world. I still get that rush of feeling now when people comment on my different posts. It really makes it feel as though what I’m writing about matters, not that I should need validation but it’s always nice for other people to appreciate what I’m writing about.
I also think a huge milestone for me was hitting a 100 posts. It was a huge moment for me to know that I had actually written that many posts and had that much content on my blog. It made me feel really accomplished, that’s not to say that it’s all good content, but it’s mine and it is something that I’m ridiculously proud of. I’ve almost tripled that now, but that first hundred was a real achievement for me.
The last milestone for me would definitely be moving from wordpress.com to a self-hosted site. I think that was the moment I started taking my blog really seriously and began writing more regularly. Definite milestone for thebookbloglife!
I realised after writing this that I sound really cheesy discounting hits, just to make it clear I love seeing a post perform really well, but it’s no longer my main focus! Let me know what your milestones were in the comments below!
