Blogger Identity?? | Book Blogger Hop #6

I stumbled across The Book Blogger Hop – I’m trying to become more active not only posting on my blog but also within the book blogger community – and this week we’re talking about blogging achievements and milestones.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement: A blogger’s first name should be in a prominent place on his/her blog. (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I think this is so dependent on the person running the blog and what they want to do. I have my name on my blog purely because I think it makes the blog marginally more personal and I have no reason for it not to be. However I wouldn’t click off a blog purely because a person hadn’t divulged their name, it just isn’t a deal breaker for me.

I actually think it’s quite a smart move to keep your identity to yourself especially if you’re still a minor! Who never really know who is reading your content and why they are, it’s what makes the internet a scary place. The intent behind consuming content can be innocent or malicious and I always think it’s better to err on the edge of caution than do something that you regret.

So, that’s my take on it. I don’t think it’s a necessity. I also think it’s down to individual choice.

Do you agree with me? Or do you think it should be compulsory for your name to feature on the blog? Let me know!

  1. I like seeing a name of sorts listed on blogs, but I don’t think it necessarily needs to be the bloggers actual name if they would prefer to operate with some anonymity. I’m cool with them using a pseudonym or a nickname if that’s what they are comfortable with.

    Have a great weekend.
