Blog design! | Book Blogger Hop #4

I stumbled across The Book Blogger Hop – I’m trying to become more active not only posting on my blog but also within the book blogger community – and this week we’re talking about blog design!

Does a cluttered blog have you not returning? By cluttered I mean too many columns, small type, too many photos, difficult to follow, etc.  (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I’m in LOVE this question, and if you have been here for a little while you’ll know how fickle I am with my blog design, I have had so many reiterations trying to find the style and look I want, I don’t even want to say I’ve found the perfect one. But one thing I have always been mindful off is usability, I want my content to easy to read and access. I think it today’s society where blogs are everywhere and there is an overabundance of material making sure your blog is easy to read and navigate is of the utmost importance.

I think having a nice clear font, with nice spacing is something that’s really important for me as both a reader and blogger. I also love well-placed images, and relevant images, cause when I’m reading, I love images that add something to whatever I’m reading but I don’t like having to scroll past a load irrelevant images that are there for the sake of it.

No matter what you’re writing about, you should make sure that your reader is always on your mind and make sure that their experience is always a good one!

Let me know what you do to make sure your blog is a nice experience! Also, I would love to know if there are any improvements you think the book blog life could make!

Jordan I love your blog, nice and clean. I had paid for a Blogger design so did not want to move on, but I feel I’ve definitely outgrown Blogger so would really like to move to WP.

Also wanted to ask, how hard is it to create your pic header (is that what its called?) With the title of this post and the pic in the background. I’d like to learn how to do this.

Hii! I love WordPress so if you get the chance definitely swap over!

I use Canva and Unsplash to create my header images 🙂

You do have a nice blog that is easy to navigate…and thankfully, there is no loud music to hear when I get here! I hate those situations with blasting music. I like calm, peaceful settings, but with some images, too. Not so many that I get tired of scrolling, either.

    Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I remember when I used to be on Tumblr and having music playing was the big thing! It annoyed the heck outta me!

Your blog is very nice but the font could be a little bigger. I have a reader’s version on my iPhone to turn it into an easier font to read your blog. But not everyone may have that on their phones, so that’s a suggestion. 🙂

I like easy to navigate and it’s important that the contrast between text colour and background doesnt hurt the eyes! 🙂
