My Auto Buy Authors | Blogmas Day 16

There are always authors that I will walk into a bookstore and buy without even thinking, their books are some that I always love or really like. They are always a loving addition to my bookshelf. My auto buy authors.

J K Rowling

This one is a little obvious, but I have bought, not necessarily loved everything she has written, either as herself or under her pseudonym. Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart and in may. I do  have to say though, the only thing I haven’t exactly loved was The Casual Vacancy and I have yet to read the rest of the Cormoran Strike series.

Either way my bookshelf is filled with her books, waiting for me to read them. You know when a day suddenly has twice as many hours and all that.

Rick Riordian

I have so many of his books sat on my shelf waiting to be read, okay maybe not that many but there’s at least two just sat there. I always make sure that I pick up any of his books. The stories he writes and the twist on ancient gods can be amazingly well written. Plus you get to learn about history whilst reading a wonderful book.

You should definitely check out the Percy Jackson series, because it was one of my favourites.

V.E Schwab

I love her books. Like seriously love her books. I walk into a shop scouting incase I missed a new release. Trying to kid myself I haven’t jotted them all down in my diary before hand… shh, I can live in my denial. He books are always gritty and well written. Plus her stories are exciting and some of the best I’ve read. They always leave me wanting more.

My favourite from this particular auto-buy author has to be Vicious. Seriously one of the best anti-hero/superhero book I’ve read.

Sarah J Maas

This is another auto buy author that I could swoon over and I mean literally fall to my knees in the middle of a bookshop and start to buy them all. They are my happy place, all of them. I adore the characters and the stories and the world. It’s has become my new Harry Potter addiction. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
If you haven’t already check out the Throne of Glass series, it’s one of my favourites ever and the characters are amazing.

Samantha Shannon

I’ve actually met Samantha and I was literally stood hyperventilating in the queue – yes I was that person. It was great, she writes amazing characters that are well rounded and complete in their own ways. The world she has created is one of the most interesting, plus she managed to have the best twist ending I’ve ever read in her book! She is a solid addition to my auto buy authors, and I’m looking forward to buying her new work!

Seriously, check out The Bone Season – seriously one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Have you got any authors you will pick up and read no matter what? Or are any of my auto buy authors on your list? Let me know.

I’ve found that when I try to be author loyal I end up disappointed. I loved The Time Traveler’s Wife, so when Audrey Niffenegger put out her next book I rushed to buy it and ended up not really enjoying it at all. I did like The Casual Vacancy once I finally got through a good chunk of it and figured out who all the characters were. Super tragic ending, which I always enjoy. But it’s not Harry Potter, so you shouldn’t buy it just because you’ve been a JK Rowling fan in the past. It’s a book that has to be judged on its own merit.
