MonthOctober 2018

October Wrap Up | 2018

October has been a busy month for me, I’m currently learning to drive which means not only are some of my days filled with driving lessons but I’m also having to study for the theory test. But I am thrilled to say that I have read a total of 9 books this month but here’s a quick run through: This month was a month of audiobooks I listened to a total of three books, all of which were Poirot stories. […]

The Tattooist of Auschwitz | Can’t Wait Wednesday #20

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, created to discuss books that book bloggers haven’t read yet and they’re usually books yet to be released. I ran across it when looking for new content ideas for The Book Blog Life, and it looked like so much fun. I have heard fantastic things about this book and the story. I am really interested in WWII history and I love historical fiction in general. So when I heard about this book […]

Halloween films | Top Ten Tuesday #19

It’s a Halloween freebie this week and I was thinking about doing “scary” books but if you have followed this blog for any amount of time you’ll know that I’m not a huge fan of scary books, in fact I’m not a huge fan of anything scary if I’m honest. So I thought I would do my favourite Halloween films to get me in the mood! So as you can see the films I watch are as far from scary […]

Slow going! | #IMWAYR #19

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we […]

After Alice | 2 star review

I picked up After Alice after I failed to finish Wicked purely because I thought with it being a smaller book I might be able to get through this one and finish it. I did finish this one but I struggled all the way through. This book was boring, there’s no other word for it, I was bored all the way through. I just think the way the story was laid out was wrong, it made the story feel cumbersome […]

The A.B.C Murders | 4 star review

I know I say this about all of the Poirot books and I’m going to say it again, but I think The A.B.C Murders is my favourite so far. I think the fact that there is SO much happening in this book that you genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen. Plus at one point it genuinely looks like Poirot is going to be outsmarted which is unbelievably rare but is a nice view into how he deals with almost failure. […]

Horror Novels | Book Blogger Hop #15

I stumbled across The Book Blogger Hop – I’m trying to become more active not only posting on my blog but also within the book blogger community – and this week we’re talking about horror novels. Recommend one horror novel for non-horror readers. I am not a huge horror book reader, they just aren’t for me. I don’t like to be scared but I have enjoyed some really good books that are quite creepy, the one that I would recommend would have […]

Fairest | Can’t Wait Wednesday #19

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, created to discuss books that book bloggers haven’t read yet and they’re usually books yet to be released. I ran across it when looking for new content ideas for The Book Blog Life, and it looked like so much fun. This is a book that has been sat on my shelf for SO long and I have been meaning to read it since I finished The Lunar Chronicles which was so long […]

Favourite Villains | Top Ten Tuesday #18

I love a good villain, I think they can turn a mediocre book into something completely new and exciting. I am a huge believer in the thought that if a book doesn’t have a good antagonist then the book is going to be missing a really important element. Plus they just aren’t as interesting to read! My top ten villains would have to be: Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses. You all know I’m not talking about Amarantha! […]
