July Wrap Up

I had an amazing month of reading and my July Wrap Up is huge, I finally hit my stride. I read a lot and really enjoyed some of the books I read this month. Quick run through: Finished the reread of A Court of Thorns and Roses and read A Court of Frost and Starlight. This series will forever be one of my favourites. Can NOT wait for the next installment. Read some eArcs, Spinning Silver was okay but I […]

Popular Books that Lived Up to the Hype | Top Ten Tuesday #6

I love when I read a book matches up to the hype and expectations that surround it. I think it can be quite a rarity to be honest. I had a good think about this list and it was surprisingly hard. I have a lot of books that don’t live up to the hype but not so much with the hype. I’ve tried my best! Popular Books that Lived Up to the Hype For this list I looked at the […]

Caraval | 2.5 star review

I had such high hopes for Caraval and I was left completely disappointed. I think I’m the only person who thinks this way if the reviews on Goodreads are anything to go by. What annoys me about this book the most would be the unused potential, I think this book got lost halfway with what it was supposed to be. I was expecting something along the lines of The Night Circus which I REALLY enjoyed, but this fell completely flat […]

I’m on fiiire… | #IMWAYR #6

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we […]

A Torch Against the Night | 5 star review

If you don’t know, A Torch Against the Night is the second book in a series and you should definitely check out my An Ember in the Ashes book review first! I don’t even have words for what this book made me feel, it genuinely broke me. I once again listened to it on Audible and I’m so glad I did. I love the narrators and what they have managed to do with this book. I feel so drawn into […]

Wilde Like Me | 3.5 star review

Wilde Like Me was a book I picked up because I regularly watch Louise Pentland’s vlogs and had heard so much about the books and the characters. Plus the fact that she actually wrote it herself intrigues me, especially with the majority of YouTubers using ghostwriters. I think one thing to note is that Louise is adamant that although the book draws on her experiences as a mother that the book isn’t based on her life. I would kind of […]

Obsidio | 4.5 star book review

Obsidio is the finale to The Illuminae trilogy so you should definitely check out my other reviews for Illuminae and Gemina first! This series has made me do a complete u-turn, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Illuminae when I first read it but decided to give it another go once Gemina came out. Obsidio, definitely kept that streak running, I loved this book and I think the ending was a perfect tie-up of the tiny strings that had run […]

A Court of Frost and Starlight | 5 star review

I was the first person to complain that A Court of Frost and Starlight was too short and I stand by that for all the right reasons. I WANT MORE. This seems to be a running trait with this series, I cannot wait for the next book to be released especially if the epilogue is anything to go by! I think this book is a wonderful bridge that explains everything that has happened between Hybern and what will happen in […]

Blogger Identity?? | Book Blogger Hop #6

I stumbled across The Book Blogger Hop – I’m trying to become more active not only posting on my blog but also within the book blogger community – and this week we’re talking about blogging achievements and milestones. Do you agree or disagree with this statement: A blogger’s first name should be in a prominent place on his/her blog. (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews) I think this is so dependent on the person running the blog and what they want to do. […]

An Ember in the Ashes | 5 star review

So before I start gushing about how great An Ember in the Ashes is I have to sort off explain that a huge amount of my love comes from the audiobook and the narration of the two characters point of views. The voice actors they chose really do a good job of playing their characters and I love their voices. I kinda wanna marry Jack Farrar – weird as that may be! But I have tried to read the physical book […]
