2018 Reading Goals

Each year I set myself goals to achieve alongside the Goodreads challenge because numbers mean nothing! Obviously, I don’t have enough on my plate I like to make it more complicated. Well, I hope I haven’t with my 2018 reading goals. I’ve tried to keep things tame. Last year I planned to read 25 of the Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, and although they were on my radar I just didn’t put the effort in, so I failed.

This year, even though I still want to read some of the Discworld series I have set my sights on another series… wait for it… Poirot by Agatha Christie, I have already read/listened to two and I’m onto the third. I’m really enjoying them so my aim is to read or listen to at least half of the novels and ten of the short stories, bringing my total books up to 25. Now it might seem like a lot but I’m listening to them on Audible so that should make things a little easier. Either way, it’s not going to be an easy feat completing my 2018 reading goals.

I also think if that wasn’t enough that I want to read some of the books that I have had sat on my shelves for what seems like an age. I’m fed up of hoarding books, shock horror. I have so many books that I want to buy but no space and the mess is becoming an issue. So I have set myself the goal of reading at least one book a month that has been on my shelf for a year or more. I don’t know how that’s going to go, probably not great especially for my Books I Need to Read challenge I’ve set myself. Yup another goal… these 2018 reading goals are coming out my ears!

Last but by no means least is my Goodreads challenge for this year! I have decided on 80 books, which should be easy if I stick to my goals mentioned above.  I didn’t manage it this year, I’ve had a hectic work schedule and I’m studying for a professional qualification – something that has started up again. So I’m hoping to be more organised with my time and make sure I set aside time to read every day or listen to a book at some point in the day. So maybe it’ll be feasible!
