The Best Books of 2017

I recently wrote all about the books that I didn’t enjoy in my Worst Books of 2017 list, and it wouldn’t be a balanced argument without telling you about all the books I have loved in my best books of 2017 list. I have as with the other limited myself to 5.

Career of Evil

The third book in the Cormoran Strike series and my favourite out of them all. I think the one thing that puts this book above the rest and earns its place on my best books of 2017 list would have to be the fact that we see some of the story through the eyes of the murderer. It made the story interesting and well-formed, I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good crime plot!

And The Mountains Echoed

I think Khaled Hosseini is one of my favourite authors of all time. His stories and writing always make me feel something, whether it be sadness or the warming of my heart. And The Mountains Echoed is no exception, the book had me in tears and then laughing. This book genuinely deserves its place on my best books of 2017 list and if you haven’t read anything by Hosseini then please go and pick up one of his books.

The Song Rising

I’m sure there is a Samantha Shannon book on every one of these lists so it’s no surprise its made my best books of 2017. This series has a special place in my life, and they just keep getting better and better. The Song Rising is the end of a story arc, so the next one will follow a totally different path (I guess). The Bone Season is the first and once again go pick it up, like right now.

Every Heart a Doorway

Every Heart A Doorway was a book that completely took me by surprise, I had heard very mixed reviews about the story and the characters but I loved the whole concept. I enjoyed finding out about the different worlds and the science behind it. One of my favourite listens of the year!

A Conjuring of Light

Another third book in a series, and this was a great addition to the series, and the progression of the characters in this one was fantastic. I feel like this is where they all come into themselves and start to learn about each other. I loved it, and the ending made my heart warm. Definitely a good last book to add onto my best books of 2017!

There we have it for another year, the best books for 2017, I can’t believe how close we are from starting the new year and new challenge!
