If I could live in one genre it would definitely be fantasy. I love the world building and the characters that are associated with fantasy in general. It feels like there anything could happen within the story and amongst the characters, some of my all-time favourite books have been fantasy for this very reason. I’m very rarely disappointed in a fantasy world or in the characters – but they can become a little tropey.
I thought I would share one of my favourite adult fantasy novels with you!The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

In a world where ash falls from the sky, and mist dominates the night, an evil cloaks the land and stifles all life. The future of the empire rests on the shoulders of a troublemaker and his young apprentice. Together, can they fill the world with colour once more?In Brandon Sanderson's intriguing tale of love, loss, despair and hope, a new kind of magic enters the stage— Allomancy, a magic of the metals.
I think this book has it all. The brilliant characters, the great plot line, and the original magic system that is so simple yet has a level of complexity you always want! I definitely think this is a book that would be perfect for anyone who is wanting to branch into adult fantasy but is a little intimidated. This book is the perfect mix – great world and characters but not as heavy as others I have read or have on my shelves.
Make no mistake the characters make this book, they are vivid and packed to the brim with quirks and different personality types. I read this at the same sort of time as Six of Crows and the similarities are there – The Final Empire is kind of like Six of Crows’ older brother. I loved them both.
If you love fantasy and you want something that is rich in both world and character this is the book for you. If you are just dipping your toe into the world of adult fantasy this book would be a great introduction to a daunting genre!
