My Favourite Audiobooks

I have a love hate relationship with audiobooks, sometimes I really love to listen to them and others I find them hard and really lacking. I thought it would be a nice idea for me to write a list of all my favourite audiobooks and let you know why

Ready Player One

This was the first book I listened to on Audible and it was a very good pick! I loved the story and listening to it on audiobook made all the references more immersive. Plus it felt as though I was living through the virtual reality, it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend listening to this through audiobook, I think it brings something to the story that could be missed through the book. That is why it is number one on my favourite audiobooks list.

25526296Every Heart a Doorway

I don’t have words for how much I love this book and the books that come after, and it will forever be one of my favourite audiobooks. The way the story is told and the different characters, I would have loved this book as a written version but the audiobook handed more of the magic over, created the world in all its glory, it helped differentiate the characters as well. I just can’t say enough about how much I adore this series other than read or listen to it, now!

30290845Still Alice

I can’t say enough good things about this book and especially the audiobook. I think this book thrives on the small changes in Alice, both her speech and her memory. This is why it is one of my favourite audiobooks. Listening to it you can literally hear Alice losing her memory and ability to speak. It was saddening but also unbelievably powerful, it had such an impact and I think that’s what makes this book so special.

This is another book that is hugely dependent on the narrator which makes it another of my favourite audiobooks. I think listening to a 5 year old narrate the awful things that are happening to them without actually understanding can be a terrifying experience. Room definitely enhances on that point of view, and it is one of the many reasons why I love this book so much.

30253864Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between

I loved the Gilmore Girls so this seemed to be a nice natural progression. I love Lauren Graham and her sense of humour, so this book was right up my alley. I adored the little anecdotes and the spin that she placed on them all. She’s always so on the ball with what she is saying that it instantly makes my list of favourite audiobooks.

What are some of your favourite audiobooks? Please let me know in the comments, I need to know which books I should spend my credits on.
