I have been putting writing this post off for so long in the vain hope that I would get my act together and start writing my NaNoWriMo draft.
Well, I haven’t.
December was a write off in my mind, I did blogmas on here and that took the majority of my time and energy, I mean damn, I was writing blog posts most days and if I wasn’t I was planning blog posts. It was intense. I didn’t have the time to start finishing my novel and looking at the gaping plotholes that seemed to have appeared, threatening to swallow the whole of my characters.
It wasn’t the right time. Right?
Well January came and I told myself I needed a month, a month to myself and I would start again. I convinced myself I was burnt out. It wasn’t hard to stretch that far – I had spent two months writing ferociously. So maybe it wasn’t a bad idea to wait a little while until I felt like writing again.
It’s now the middle of February and I still haven’t looked at my draft. It just sits there forlornly, begging me to finish my NaNoWriMo draft.
I will get to it. I’m writing this update because I know I won’t be able to get away with it again. I will have to make some kind of progress with it. I know that I will have to do something. I will have to make a decision.
Using my blog to shame me into writing? Yup.
So here’s my pledge to you all, in this here writing update. The next one of these won’t reek of my failure as a writer, it will be full of moaning and whinging about the writing process – I promise.
Did you take part in NaNoWriMo? How is your writing going? I would love to hear about your writing update below!
