February 2017 Wrap Up

Welcome to my February 2017 Wrap Up. February has been the month that I went off the rails in terms of my reading. I thought I had a well-rounded plan as to what I wanted to read but the reading gods decided they had other things in mind for me. I managed to read all the books apart from the ones I really needed to – the Terry Pratchett. Well on with the books that I actually did read. A […]

Glass Sword Book Review

This is a review of the second book in a series – read the first review here. Glass Sword is even better than the first and that’s saying something. Mare really comes into her own in this book and becomes less reliant on those around her. She made for a better character which meant the entire book was more interesting and well rounded. I definitely thought the storyline for this book was more exciting and more action filled than the […]

Red Queen Book Review

Red Queen is a startlingly beginning to a brand new series by Victoria Aveyard. This was a reread for me and I loved this book as much as I did the first time. It is the perfect dystopian novel in the sense that it plays into all the tropes, the young girl who rises from oppression and fights for those she’s left behind. But somehow this is done with a unique plot line that you never see coming. It takes […]

The Song of the Stork Book Review

I adore this book, I don’t have the words to describe how much the characters spoke to me and how I fell in love with the writing. This is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read, I just can’t describe how well the setting was described and how the characters spoke to me. The use of a mute was well written as I feared that it might become monotonous and a little boring without two-way dialogue, […]

Chest of Bone Book Review

I found Chest of Bone on NetGalley and I loved the premise of the book, the description really hit me. I wanted to read it and I managed to get accepted! However, I found it to be lacking. The payoff wasn’t there and I struggled to get all the way through the book. I don’t quite know what to say about this book because I’m still not sure what actually happened. I read this whirlwind and really struggled with the […]

Writing Update : NaNoWriMo Draft

I have been putting writing this post off for so long in the vain hope that I would get my act together and start writing my NaNoWriMo draft. Well, I haven’t. December was a write off in my mind, I did blogmas on here and that took the majority of my time and energy, I mean damn, I was writing blog posts most days and if I wasn’t I was planning blog posts. It was intense. I didn’t have the […]

A Series of Unfortunate Events : Mini Reviews Part Three

So here it is another instalment – A Series of Unfortunate Events : Mini Reviews Part Three. I have read another three of the series and thought it was about time I updated you with my thoughts and ideas. I definitely think this is where the series starts to come into itself, answering some of the questions that had been left unanswered at the beginning. If you haven’t read part one and part two, I suggest you do that first. […]

Our Honeymoon Plans

Yes I know I’m a book blogger and talking about my long awaited honeymoon doesn’t even come close to being book related BUT I’m too excited to keep it bottled in for much longer. I have to talk about it – our honeymoon plans, I just have too, so if you’re looking for something bookish, come back next week. If you wanna hear about the wondrous things I have planned then stick around because you’re mind is about to be […]
