Are there any books you plan on reading over the Autumn season?
I love the idea of the Autumn Book Tag. I plan to read a lot of books, whether or not it actually happens or not is something else. I’m also planning to try and win NaNoWriMo this year as well. So that’s a lot on my plate. Reading might take a backseat, but I have done a October TBR which you can read here. The pains of trying to be a writer as well as a reader. Can’t be one without the other.
September brings back to school memories: what book did you most enjoy studying? And what were your favourite and least favourite school subjects?
I disliked most of the books I studied at school, I don’t think I overly enjoyed reading something that I was being forced to. Thanks Autumn Book t
ag for dragging all the awful books to the forfront again. Plus trying to find some hidden meaning in the words. One book that has really stuck with me is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I loved the story and the imagery, its really one of my favourites. I even went on to read A Thousand Splendid Suns. One of my favourites.
My favourite subject at school was History. I loved learning all about the different countries and what caused different things to happen. I tried doing it at A Level and didn’t enjoy it so much. My biggest regret was dropping my joint history degree and just doing my Creative Writing honors.
October means Halloween: do you enjoy scary books and films? If so what are some of your favourites?
NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. I HATE jump scares. So I don’t have favourites, the creepiest book I’ve ever read was Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar and that’s not even remotely scary.
I’m fine with being a wuss. In fact it suits me just fine if I’m totally honest.
With November it’s time for Bonfire Night and firework displays. What’s the most exciting book you’ve read that really kept you gripped?
You can’t possibly expect me to answer this with one book. I’m literally stumped, there has been way too many books this year that have kept me hooked. One of them being The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, I adored this book. The characters and the storyline was something that I had never read before and I loved it.
If you haven’t checked it out, read my entire review here.
What book is your favourite cosy comfort read?
I love the obvious one, Harry Potter. Rereading the books feels like coming home, and sitting down with a hot chocolate. If I had to choose another one, it would have to be The Bronze Horseman series, boy does that series make me gush. One of my absolute favourite reads that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Curled up with a good book, what is your favourite drink?
HOT CHOCOLATE. Not just any hot chocolate though. I love hazelnut hot chocolate from Starbucks, that really puts me in my happy place. I do get frightened off spilling even the smallest amount on my beloved books. If I can’t get to Starbucks, a normal homemade hot chocolate will suffice or a can of Dr Pepper.
Any plans you’re looking forward too over the next few months?
Not entirely. I’m hoping to win NaNoWriMo, also maybe get ahead of my blog posting schedule, you know only if I’m really lucky, maybe I’ll do some more tags like the Autumn Book tag. Other than that, it’s the usual – christmas shopping and wrapping which I love more than receiving presents. But nothing more exciting than that.
I thank The Quiet People for the opportunity to do the tag. I tag anyone who reads this and wants to do it. Leave your post links below and I’ll check them out!
