I was always the reader who couldn’t use audiobooks to save their lives. Easily distracted and a tiny attention span, I began to fear that I would never be able to jump on the audiobook bandwagon. I tried everything but some kind of boredom took over before too long.
It was doomed. I was devastated.
Work allowed me to listen to music. After a while I found that the music made my brain numb and it became increasingly more difficult to stay productive. I tried different kinds of music to no avail, and then boom.
It gave me something to focus on other than my work. To keep my brain awake and make me as productive as I could possibly be.
To this day, I’ve listened to 4 different audiobooks and I have to say I enjoyed all of them. The one thing that has to be right though is the narrator. If the narrator’s bad it puts me off.
I’m currently listening to the Harry Potter series. Which is a surreal experience and one that I’m enjoying very much. It allows me to imagine the work in depth and become more immersed. I genuinely adore Stephen Fry’s voice for this series.
